Install Commander in AWS

Once the stack has been deployed, you can install Commander. To do so, you must retrieve the administrator password and connect to the instance.

Retrieve the administrator password for the Windows EC2 instance

For EC2 Windows instances, AWS generates an encrypted password for the Administrator account when the instance is launched. To enable console access to the EC2 instance, you must use the key pair specified in the CloudFormation template to decrypt the password. You can retrieve this password in the AWS console.

To retrieve the administrator password:

  1. Sign in to the Amazon EC2 console, and then select Instances.
  2. Select the instance, then select Actions > Get Windows Password.

It can take a few minutes for this option to be available after first launching a new instance.

  3. Select Browse, choose your key pair file, and then select Open.

    Or:

Paste the contents of your key pair into the text box.

  4. Select Decrypt Password.

Connect to the EC2 instance

Use the administrator password to open an RDP connection to the EC2 instance. For more information, see Connect to Public Cloud VMs.

Install Commander
