Connect VM Media

You can connect virtual hardware on a VM (such as a CD/DVD or floppy drive) to a file in the Service Portal media library. For example, if you want to install antivirus software on a VM, you can connect a CD drive to the ISO file in the media location that contains installation files.

Connecting media is supported only for VMware VMs, and a media library must be set up first. For more information, see Manage the Media Library.

To connect virtual hardware to a datastore file:

  1. Select a VM.
  2. From the Actions menu, choose VM > Connect for the virtual hardware you want to connect.
  3. In the Select Datastore File dialog, navigate to the file, select it and click Connect.

The media library must be associated with a datastore that the VM has access to. Contact your system administrator if no datastores are available.

If you previously connected virtual hardware and you want to connect it to another datastore file, you must disconnect the previous file first.

To disconnect virtual hardware from a datastore file:

  1. Select a VM.
  2. From the Actions menu, choose VM > Disconnect for the virtual hardware you want to disconnect.
