Create Azure billing exports

You can create a new billing export to set up your Azure connector. Follow the instructions below, then proceed with the instructions on Set up Azure cost connectors.

Procedure

  1. Sign in to the Azure Portal, and navigate to the desired billing account scope.

    Note

To switch billing scopes, select Switch scope in the top right corner of the Cost Management + Billing page.

  2. Go to Cost Management + Billing.

  3. On the sidebar menu, go to Exports.

  4. Select Add to create a new billing export.

  5. Complete the Export details section.

    • Name — A custom name for your billing export.

    • Metric — Actual cost represents your total usage and purchase costs as they display on your invoice; amortized cost flattens purchase spikes in the billing data.

    • Export type — The frequency at which billing data is exported. It is recommended you select Daily export of month-to-date costs.

    • Start date — The calendar date your export will begin generating.

  6. Set File Partitioning to On. This option is set to Off by default.

    Note

File partitioning must be enabled for Snow Atlas to ingest your exported billing data. You need a Microsoft Customer Agreement, Microsoft Parner Agreement, or Enterprise Agreement account to view the File Partitioning setting. If you have a Microsoft Online Services Program account, this setting will be hidden and disabled by default.

  7. Complete the Storage section. You may use an existing storage account, or create a new one.

To learn how to use an existing storage account for your billing export, see Option A: Use an existing storage account.
