Package Builder
Use Package Builder to create and download installation packages for Snow Inventory Agents for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Unix. When an agent is installed on a computer, it regularly collects inventory data which is eventually used by Snow products such as SAM Core.
Description
With Package Builder, you can create agent installation packages and download them directly or at a later point in time. A package is available to download for up to 30 days.
Configuration file
When you create a new installation package, Package Builder will require you to upload an agent configuration file in the last step. You can download and use one of the following configuration file templates to prepare the file:
For a description of the configuration file parameters, see configuration-doc.html.
Additional capabilities
You can add additional capabilities to the agent, for example, scanning for Oracle Database installations. Available capabilities depend on the operating system. For descriptions of all capabilities, see Scanning modules.
Next step: Install the agent
When you have created and downloaded an installation package, install the agent according to the instructions for the applicable agent:
Permission requirements
To access Package Builder, the Snow Atlas user must be assigned a specific custom role. Custom roles are created by the Snow Atlas System Administrator. For a description of how to create custom roles, see Manage roles.
The custom role must include one of the elements of the Packaging permission, which is found on the System permissions tab when creating the custom role.
The user can be given either read or write access to Package Builder, depending on which Packaging permission element is added to the custom role:
packaging.context.r - Read access: the user can view and download packages.
packaging.context.crud - Write access: the user can view, download, and create packages.
Platform tool requirements
The requirements for the platform tools used with the Package Builder packages are listed in System Requirements.
