Set up Azure cost connectors
Azure connectors retrieve data on your Azure cloud usage and transfer it to Snow Atlas. To use Azure connectors in Cloud on Snow Atlas, you need a Microsoft Customer Agreement, Microsoft Partner Agreement, or Enterprise Agreement account type in Azure. You also need access to the account scope containing the billing data you want to connect with Snow Atlas, and to the storage account where your billing data is exported to.
Connect to a billing export
Use an existing Azure billing export to connect with Snow Atlas. For information on creating new billing exports, see Create Azure billing exports.
Sign in to the Azure Portal.
Go to Cost Management + Billing, and navigate to the scope that has the billing export you want to connect with Snow Atlas.
Go to Exports on the sidebar menu.
On the Exports page, select the billing export you want to connect with Snow Atlas.
A slide-in panel will appear showing the details of the billing export.
On the export details panel, select Edit.
On the Edit export page, ensure that File Partitioning is set to On.
Note
File partitioning must be enabled for Snow Atlas to ingest your exported data. You need a Microsoft Customer Agreement, Microsoft Parner Agreement, or Enterprise Agreement account to view the File Partitioning setting in Azure. If you have a Microsoft Online Services Program account, the file partitioning setting will be hidden and disabled by default.
In Snow Atlas, on the Specify data location step, enter the billing export name and directory.
Select Next.
Connect to a SAS
In the Azure Portal, go to the storage account that contains the billing export you used in the Specify data location step of the connector configuration.
Select Containers on the menu.
Select the container that has the billing export you want to connect with Snow Atlas.
Select Shared access tokens on the sidebar menu.
Configure the following settings:
For Signing method, select Account key.
For Signing key, choose a key to associate with the SAS.
For Stored access policy, select None. Optionally, to create a stored access policy that manages the lifecycle of your SAS, see Define a stored access policy.
For Permissions, select Read and List only.
Choose a start and expiry date and time for your SAS.
Note
Once the SAS expires, your connector can no longer retrieve data from Azure. You must generate a new SAS URL in Azure, and modify the connector credentials in Snow Atlas. For information on modifying connector credentials, see Edit cloud connector credentials.
For Allowed protocols, select HTTPS only.
Select Generate SAS and connection string.
A Blob SAS URL will generate and display below.
In Snow Atlas, on the Provide credentials step, enter the generated Blob SAS URL.
Select Next.
Test connection
Test the connection between Azure and Snow Atlas to ensure the connector is set up to retrieve your data.
In Snow Atlas, on the Test connection step, select Test connection.
If the connection is invalid, edit the connector settings on this step and test again.
Select Next.
Complete the connector configuration
In Snow Atlas, on the Summary step, review the details of your Azure connector.
Select Add connector to complete the connector configuration.
