Device application usage

Device application usage in Snow SaaS Management collects user activity in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud applications installed on devices across your IT estate. The data is retrieved from the SAM Core API and requires that you have SAM Core with relevant integrations. The data is presented in the SaaS pages.

Description

Some enterprise subscriptions, such as those for Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud, include applications installed on devices. User activity in SaaS applications is collected through SaaS connectors and Snow's browser extension. To optimize subscriptions that include hybrid applications, user activity in applications installed on devices must also be collected to get accurate usage metrics.

Device application usage discovers user activity in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud applications installed on computers in your IT estate. The data is collected and processed by Snow Inventory Agents. A Snow Extender sends the data into SAM Core on Snow Atlas. The data is then retrieved through the SAM Core API and sent to SaaS where it is consolidated. See Data consolidation and Data retrieved from the SAM Core API for more information.

Note

Only users which have a full name or an email address connected to them in SAM Core are retrieved from the API.

The collected data is presented as discovered applications, users, and user activity for the last day in SaaS. Device application usage has the discovery type Device.

Prerequisites

Device application usage requires that you have SAM Core on Snow Atlas, with the integrations Snow Inventory Agents and Snow Extenders. If you have this configured, device application usage works automatically for Snow SaaS Management.
