Install Snow Extender

You can install several Snow Extenders, for example, you can install one Snow Extender for each office location.

Before you install a new Snow Extender, make sure that the System Requirements are met.

To manage Snow Extenders, you require the Snow Atlas System administrator role.

Set up new Snow Extender

A secret key is generated when you set up a new Snow Extender. This secret key is used when you later install the Snow Extender.

On the Settings menu, under General settings, select Snow Extenders.
Select Create new Snow Extender.
Enter a descriptive name for your Snow Extender in Snow Extender name.
Optional: Enter additional information about your Snow Extender in Description.
Select your enrollment site from the Enrollment site list.
Select Generate secret key.
Select Copy to copy the secret key and then save the key in a secure location.
Note
You are not able to restore a secret key. If you lose the secret key and want to install this Snow Extender, you must re-generate a secret key and use that one instead.
Select Finish.

On the Snow Extenders page, select Download Snow Extender.
Run the downloaded Snow Extender installation file on a Windows Server in your environment.
In Snow Extender Setup, select a folder to install Snow Extender in.
The default location is C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Extender but any path can be used.
Select Install.
To open the configuration tool for Snow Extender, select Yes.
In Enrollment missing, select Yes to enroll the Snow Extender,
Paste the secret key generated in Set up new Snow Extender.
Select Enroll.
Select Yes.
The Snow Extender Configurator opens.

To upgrade your Snow Extender, you must first Stop Snow Extender.

On the Snow Extenders page, select Download Snow Extender.
Run the downloaded Snow Extender installation file.
In Snow Extender Setup, select the folder where the Snow Extender you want to upgrade has been installed.
The default location is C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Extender but any path can be used.
Select Upgrade.
