Subscription — Reference
Refer to the tables below for field descriptions when you want to add or edit subscriptions, or view subscription details in SaaS.
Add subscription
Refer to the table below for field descriptions of the Add subscription and Edit subscription modals.
Field label | Description |

Vendor | The vendor of the application for which the subscription is purchased. (Required) |
Application | The application for which the subscription is purchased. (Required) This cannot be changed after the subscription is added. If you enter an application that is not yet discovered in your SaaS estate, it is created as a manually added application. |
Subscription name | The name of the subscription type. It must be a unique name. (Required) This cannot be changed if the subscription is added through a discovery source. |
Metric | The unit of measure for the subscription. (Required) |
Type | The character of the subscription: Full. (Required) Full means a regular subscription, in contrast to a trial that typically implies a time-limited version without cost. |
Free | If selected, the subscription is marked as having no cost, and is excluded from calculations relevant for cost optimization. The selection sets Billing period to monthly and Cost per unit to zero. They cannot be changed. The selection of Free cannot be changed if the subscription is added through a discovery source. |
Billing period | How often you are billed for the subscription: Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly. (Required) Monthly is the default value when you add a subscription manually. |
Cost per unit | The cost per unit of the subscription metric. (Required) |
Quantity | The number of purchased subscription units in the selected metric. (Required) Discovered quantity is the amount discovered through the connector and can change dynamically. It is selected by default. |
Custom quantity | If selected, you can enter a custom Quantity to reflect the actual situation in your organization. It overrides any changes to the discovered quantity from connector data imports. |
Start date | The date when the subscription can first be used. (Required) |
Expiration date | The date when the subscription can last be used if it is not renewed. |

Vendor | The vendor of the application for which the subscription is purchased. |
Discovery type | The type of discovery sources where this subscription is found. This includes manually added subscriptions. |
Metric | The unit of measure for the subscription. |
Type | The character of the subscription. |
Bundle | If Yes, the subscription entitles to multiple applications. |
Recommended price | The vendor's recommended price for the subscription. This value comes from Snow's database. |
Billing period | How often you are billed for the subscription. |
Purchased quantity | The number of purchased subscription units. |
Cost per unit | The cost per unit of the subscription metric. |
Periodical cost | The periodical cost for the subscription. This value is based on Billing period, Cost per unit, and Purchased quanitity. |
Total cost | The total cost of the subscription for its duration. This value is based on Start date, Expiration date, Cost per unit, and Purchased quantity. |
Start date | The date when the subscription can first be used. |
Expiration date | The date when the subscription can last be used if it is not renewed. |
Utilization | The rate of assigned subscriptions to the total quantity of purchased subscriptions. This value is based on Assigned and compared to Puchased quantity. |
Unassigned | The number of subscriptions that are not assigned to a user. This value requires a Puchased quantity to be correctly calculated. |
Overassigned | The number of assigned subscriptions that exceeds the purchased quantity. This value requires a Puchased quantity to be correctly calculated. |
Assigned | The number of users assigned to the subscription. It is either the value that was discovered through the connector, or the number of users that you have manually added to the subscription. |
Active | The number of users that have been active in the last 30 days. |
Inactive | The number of users that were last active more than 30 days ago. |
No activity | The number of users that have never been active. |
Activity not monitored | The number of users where activity cannot be monitored. |
Applications | The applications that this subscription entitles to. |
