Configure the BMC Helix Remedy connector

The BMC Helix Remedy connector is configured in Snow Integration Manager (SIM). For more information on SIM, refer to Snow Integration Manager. You can also read Best practices for BMC Helix Remedy integration before you begin.

The BMC Helix Remedy connector uses an API connection for fetching data from Snow License Manager. The data is then uploaded to BMC CMDB. It utilizes the REST API to import objects into BMC Helix Remedy.

  1. In Snow Integration Manager, add the BMC Helix Remedy connector and continue the configuration in the next step.

  2. On the Snow License Manager tab, under Connection, enter the URL to the Snow License Manager Web API in the SLM Web API URL box.

    Example 33.

    http://[slm server hostname]:[port]/api

  3. In the User Name and Password boxes, enter the credentials for the Snow License Manager web API user account, see Create a user account with access to the Snow License Manager web API.

  4. To verify the connection, select Test connection.

  5. Under Aggregation:

    • Select Wait for Data Update Job to finish if Snow Integration Manager is set to start after the Data Update Job (DUJ). This makes Snow Integration Manager wait for the DUJ to finish before starting the aggregation, giving Snow Integration Manager the largest possible window to export all the data.

    • Initial aggregation length (months) sets the number of months back to get data for.

    • Clear Last Aggregation Date resets the aggregation date set by Snow Integration Manager. Selecting this will increase the amount of data collected in the next run.

  6. In the Filters tab, select the checkboxes for the datatypes that are to be transferred to BMC Helix Remedy. By default, all checkboxes are selected.

  8. In the Server box, enter the FQDN name of the Atrium server.

  9. In the Port box, enter the port where the BMC Helix Remedy API is listening, see Confirm REST connection for BMC Helix Remedy.

  10. In the Username and Password boxes, enter the credentials for the BMC Helix Remedy API user account, see Create a user account with access to the BMC Helix Remedy API.

  11. To verify the connection, and to enable the Dataset list, select Test connection.

  12. In the Dataset list, select the dataset into which the Snow License Manager data will be imported, see Create a dataset in BMC Helix Remedy.

  13. In the Timeout box, enter a value for the connection timeout to the Remedy server.

The default value is 10 minutes.

  14. In the CI box, enter a value for the batch size for all BMC_BaseElement instances to be uploaded to the BMC Helix Remedy server.

BMC_BaseElement is configuration items. The default value is 100 instances per batch.

  15. In the Dependency box, enter a value for the batch size for all BMC_BaseRelationships to be uploaded to the BMC Helix Remedy server.

BMC_BaseRelationship describes the relationship between the CI's. The default value is 20 instances per batch.

  16. Select OK to save the configured settings and close the window.
