Configure the BMC Helix Remedyforce connector

The BMC Helix Remedyforce connector is configured in Snow Integration Manager. For more information on Snow Integration Manager, refer to Snow Integration Manager.

The BMC Helix Remedyforce connector uses an API connection. It utilizes the REST-based BULK API 2.0 in Salesforce to import objects into BMC Helix Remedyforce.

In Snow Integration Manager, add the BMC Helix Remedyforce connector and configure the settings:

  1. On the SLM Connection tab:

    1. In the Connection section, enter the SLM Web API URL.

      Example 37.

      http://[your SLM url]:[port]/api

[Port] is only necessary if Snow License Manager is running on other port than default port 80.

    2. In the Username and Password boxes, enter the credentials for the user account with access to the Snow License Manager Web API, see Create user account with access to the Snow License Manager web API.

    3. To verify the connection, select Test connection.

    4. In the Aggregation section, the Last Aggregation field displays the current last aggregation date in the system. When an aggregation is run, all objects in Snow License Manager that have a scandate after the current last aggregation date in the system are transferred.

    5. The value for Initial aggregation length is the number of months back in time for which an aggregation will retrieve objects. Clear Last Aggregation Date will set the Last Aggregation field to the value of today's date minus the number of months that is set in the Initial Aggregation Date field.

  2. On the SLM Filters tab:

    1. In the Filter data section, clear the checkboxes for the data types that are not to be transferred to BMC Helix Remedyforce.

You can see grayed-out checkboxes for data types dependent on other data types if no checks are done already for any dependent data types.

  3. On the Remedyforce connection tab:

    1. In Endpoint URI, enter the URI for your Remedyforce instance.

      Example 38.

For sandboxing, enable the Sandbox checkbox that automatically uses as your endpoint.

    2. In the Consumer Key box, enter the Consumer Key as noted in Retrieve information from BMC Helix Remedyforce.

    3. In the Consumer Secret box, enter the Consumer Secret as noted in Retrieve information from BMC Helix Remedyforce.

    4. In the Callback URL box, enter the Callback URL as noted in Retrieve information from BMC Helix Remedyforce.

    5. Select Authenticate.

      A login dialog appears.

    6. Follow the login procedure to authenticate the connector with your BMC Helix Remedyforce account.

If Snow Integration Manager is installed on a Windows Server 2016 machine, open Internet Explorer and disable the IE Enhanced Security Configuration setting, or the Helix Remedyforce login window will not work as expected.

A dialog will inform you that the authentication was successful.

If you are having issues with the login process, instead select Open default browser at the bottom of the login dialog. This opens the login page in your default browser instead.

After a successfull login, copy the url in the address bar of the browser, and paste it into the text box dialog that have appeared in SIM.

    7. Select Test connection to verify the connection.

If a connection can not be established, verify that the connector has been configured according to Step 3.a to Step 3.g.

    8. Select the Maximum batch size option to allow for manual selection of batch size. The size should be lowered if timeouts or apex errors appears during aggregation.

  4. Select OK.
