Configure the Snow Inventory Service Gateway using Active Directory discovery
The Snow Inventory Active Directory discovery configurator enables the configuration of local Active Directory discovery on the Snow Inventory Service Gateways.
The Snow Inventory Active Directory configurator is installed in the Snow Inventory Server folder.
Add a New Active Directory Domain
The Inventory Server is configured to perform Active Discovery using LDAP or secure LDAP. Device and user information is gathered, and multiple LDAP paths are configured.
Select New.
On the New dialog, enter an LDAP Path to the Active Directory domain. If a specific port is required, specify the port in the LDAP path.
Example 46.The Inventory Server is a member of the domain to be scanned:
ldap://DC=MyDomain,DC=com
The Inventory Server is not a member of the domain to scanned:
ldap://DC001.MyDomain.com
To connect to the Active Directory over secure LDAP, select Use SSL.
If the Snow Inventory server is a member of the same domain as the Active Directory, then select Is Default. In this case, the checkbox disables the User Name and Password fields.
Enter the User Name of a user with read privileges in the Active Directory domain.
Use the format: _domain_\_username_.
Enter the Password of the user.
To collect information on the devices and users, do one or both of the following:
Select Get Devices.
Select Get Users.
To check that the LDAP path is reachable, select Test Connection.
Select OK to save the changes made.
Edit configuration
To make changes to an existing configuration, follow the steps below:
Select the required configuration from the list, and then select Edit.
On the Edit dialog, update your changes to the Active Directory discovery settings.
Select OK to save the changes.
Remove configuration
To remove a configuration from the list, follow the steps below:
Select the required configuration from the list, and then select Remove.
On the confirmation dialog, select OK to remove the configuration.
Export configuration
To export a configuration to a different location, follow the steps below:
Select Export.
On the Save As window, select a location for the configuration file and add a file name.
Select Save to save the configuration file.
Import configuration
To import a configuration file to the configuration tool, follow the steps below:
Select Import.
On the window that opens, browse a saved configuration file.
To import the configuration to the tool, select Open.
