Snow Inventory Active Directory Discovery Configurator is a standalone configuration tool used to manage and configure the local Active Directory discovery on the Service Gateways.
Introduction
This document describes the administration and configuration of the Snow Inventory Service Gateways using the Snow Inventory Active Directory discovery configurator.
The Active Directory discovery configuration tool allows the Active Directory discovery settings accessible from outside the Snowserver Admin. The configuration is stored locally and is used by the Snowserver, which enables you to locally configure it in your environments. The tool helps in collecting the Active Directory information about the users and computers directly from a Service Gateway.
The Snow Inventory Active Directory discovery configurator enables the configuration of local Active Directory discovery on the Snow Inventory Service Gateways.
Configure the Snow Inventory Service Gateway using Active Directory discovery
The Snow Inventory Active Directory configurator is installed in the Snow Inventory Server folder.
Add a New Active Directory Domain
The Inventory Server is configured to perform Active Discovery using LDAP or secure LDAP. Device and user information is gathered, and multiple LDAP paths are configured.
In Active Directory Domains, select New.
In New, enter an LDAP Path to the Active Directory domain. If a specific port is required, specify the port in the LDAP path.
Example 35.The Inventory Server is a member of the domain to be scanned:
LDAP://DC=MyDomain,DC=com
The Inventory Server is not a member of the domain to scanned:
LDAP://DC001.MyDomain.com
To connect to the Active Directory over secure LDAP, select Use SSL.
If the Snow Inventory server is a member of the same domain as the Active Directory, then select Is Default. In this case, the checkbox disables the User Name and Password fields.
Enter the User Name of a user with read privileges in the Active Directory domain.
Use the format:
domain\username.Tip
You can also enter your email or username in the Active Directory domain based on your available user read privileges.
Enter the Password of the user.
Optional: To collect information on the devices, select Get Devices.
Optional: To collect information on the users, select Get Users.
To check that the LDAP path is reachable, select Test Connection.
To save the changes, select OK.
Edit configuration
To make changes to an existing configuration:
Select the required configuration from the list, and then select Edit.
In Edit, update your changes to the Active Directory discovery settings.
To save the changes, select OK.
Remove configuration
To remove a configuration from the list:
Select the required configuration from the list, and then select Remove.
To remove the configuration, select OK.
Export configuration
To export a configuration to a different location:
Select Export.
In Save As, select a location for the configuration file and add a file name.
To save the configuration file, select Save.
Import configuration
To import a configuration file to the configuration tool:
Select Import.
In the window that opens, browse a saved configuration file.
To import the configuration to the tool, select Open.
