Data Update Job

Data Update Job is a recurring daily SQL Server job that processes the information in the Snow Inventory database into a more SAM-usable format. It repopulates the SLM database with new and updated inventory information, applies software recognition rules, and calculates usage, compliance, and alerts. In addition to the scheduled occurrence, the job can be run manually.

Data Update Job gathers data differently, depending on how the inventory sources are configured. For more information, see Supported configurations.

The Data Update Job view shows action, status, and scheduling information for the process. The action details of the Data Update process are logged, making it easy to troubleshoot and locate bottlenecks. If an error has occurred, the log can be used to locate where the job stopped and what the cause was.

The Execution Time column shows the time it took to finish the action including any sub-actions. The Message column shows changes or updates that have been made or error messages in case of an error.
