Manage application categories

An application category can either be created from scratch, or by using existing applications as basis.

Create new:

  1. In the category menu, expand Software recognition, and then click Application categories.

  2. Click New Category.

    The Category dialog box appears.

Use existing applications as basis:

  1. In the category menu, expand Software recognition, and then click Application categories.

  2. Select application(s) in the Applications list.

  3. Click New Category From Selected.

    The Category dialog box appears.

In the Category dialog box:

  1. Enter a Name and a Description for the new category.

  2. Click OK to save the new category and close the Category dialog box.

    The new category appears in the Categories list.

Assign application to category

  1. In the category menu, expand Software recognition, and then click Application categories.

  2. Select the category in the Categories list.

  3. Select application(s) in the Applications list

  4. Click Assign, or drag the selected application(s) to the Applications in the selected category list.

Unassign application from category

  1. In the category menu, expand Software recognition, and then click Application categories.

  2. Select the category in the Categories list.

  3. Select application(s) in the Applications in the selected category list.

  4. Click Unassign, or drag the selected application(s) back to the Applications list.

  1. In the category menu, expand Software recognition, and then click Application categories.

  2. Select the category in the Categories list.

  3. Click Edit Category.

    The Category dialog box appears.

  4. Make the changes and click OK to save.

  1. In the category menu, expand Software recognition, and then click Application categories.

  2. Select the category in the Categories list.

  3. Click Delete Category.

  4. Click OK to confirm the deletion.

    The category is removed from the database.
