Manage applications

To manage the applications for an Android EMM service:

  1. On the View tab, click Applications

  2. On the sub menu, click Managed Google Play accounts and then select the Android EMM integration service.

    The Licensed Applications workbench for the service appears. The workbench has three tabs according to the following table.

Tab

Description

Licensed applications

The Licensed applications tab shows all applications that are approved for the Android EMM service.

The manager administrates which applications are approved. For more information, see Manage apps on Google Play.

The manager also administrates which applications specific users should have access to, by creating a whitelist. Applications that a user has access to, and can install, are found in the Google Play app in the work profile on all of the the user's devices. For more information, see Create whitelist for users.

The manager can silently install and uninstall applications to the user's work profile, as well as set configurations and permissions for the licensed applications. For more information, see Manage licensed applications.

Users

The User tab shows all the users which are part of the Android EMM service, that is, all users in the enrollment group for the service that has enrolled at least one Android device. For these users, the manager can set access to applications in Google Play. The manager can set access to:

  • All approved applications

  • All applications

    All public applications on Google Play as well as any private application published for this organization.

  • An empty whitelist

    All applications, except the Snow app, in the managed Google Play app will be deleted from the user's devices.

Policies

On the Policies tab, the manger can deploy default restrictions and policies to devices. For more information, see Manage device restrictions and policies

Manage apps on Google Play

To manage which applications are approved for the Android EMM service:

  1. On the Licensed applications tab, click Manage apps on Google Play.

    The Managed Google Play dialog box appears.

  2. Search for the app and then select the app.

  3. To approve an app:

    1. Click Approve.

      A dialog box appears.

    2. Click Approve.

    3. To accept the permissions, click Approve.

    4. Set the Approval settings and then click Save.

  4. To unapprove an app, click Unapprove and then click OK.

Create whitelist for users

A whitelist is a list of applications that a user has access to. To create a whitelist:

  1. On the Licensed applications tab, select the applications.

  2. Click Create whitelist for users.

    The Let users have access to the selected applications dialog box appears.

  3. Select the users, and then click OK.

    Note

    Note that if a new whitelist is created it replaces the current whitelist.

Manage licensed applications

On the workbench for the licensed application, the manager can silently install and uninstall applications to the user's work profile, as well as set configurations and permissions. To view a specific Licensed application workbench:

  • Double-click the application on the Licensed applications tab.

The Licensed application workbench consists of four tabs. The table below describes what actions can be made on the different tabs.

Overview

The Overview tab shows general information about the application.

To approve the permissions for all and future permissions or for current permissions only for the application, click Approve and then select one of the options.

To unapprove the application for the service, click Unapprove .

Users

The Users tab shows all users that have been entitled to use this application.

To silently install the application on a user's devices, select one or several users and then click Add entitlement.

To uninstall the application from a user's devices, select one or several users and then click Remove entitlement.

To update the license for selected users and update the application on their devices, select one or several users and then click Update entitlement.

Configuration

The Configuration tab shows the configurations set for this application. This tab is only available for applications that can be configured, for example GMail.

To set the configurations for the application:

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Set the configurations and click Save.

  3. Click Deploy configurations.

Permissions

The Permissions tab shows the permissions set for this application.

To set the permissions for the applications:

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Set the permissions and click Save.

Manage access to applications

To manage which applications specific users should have access to:

  1. On the Users tab, select the users.

  2. Click Access to applications and then select one of the options. 

    • Set access to all approved applications for the enterprise.

    • Set access to all public applications on Google Play as well as any private application published for this organization.

    • Set access to an empty whitelist.

  3. Click Yes.

Manage device restrictions and policies

On the Policies tab, the manager can deploy default restrictions and policies to devices. The default restrictions or policies set here will be pushed to a device when it is enrolled in the Android EMM service. If the restrictions or policies are changed, the manager can select to push these new restrictions or policies to all devices enrolled in the Android EMM service, or only to new devices.

To change the default restrictions and policies:

  1. On the Policies tab, click Edit.

  2. Select a new device restriction or policy from the list.

  3. Click Save.

  4. Click Yes or No:

    • Click Yes if the policy should be pushed to all devices enrolled in the Android EMM service.

    • Click No if the policy should be pushed to new devices only.

If no policies or restrictions needs to be pushed to new devices, click Clear enrollment deployment.
