Manage applications

This chapter describes how to view, install, and remove managed applications in Snow Device Manager.

View applications

This section describes how to:

  • View all applications in the domain.

  • View all applications installed on a device.

  • View which devices an applications is installed on.

  • View applications details.

View all applications in the domain

  • On the View tab, click Applications and then click Applications.

    The Applications workbench appears.

View all applications installed on a device

  • On the workbench of the device, click the Applications page.

Some of the columns in the list of applications are described in the following table.

Column

Description

Note

System

Indicates if the application is a system application.

Not applicable.

Managed

Indicates if the application is managed by SDM.

Only iOS and Android for Samsung devices support managed apps. The user may need to approve managed app installations on iOS.

Managed but removed

Indicates if the application is managed by SDM but removed by the user.

For iOS devices: If the user reinstalls the application, the application becomes “managed” again.

Removable

Indicates if the application can be removed by the manger or the user.

For Samsung devices: Clear the App is removable by user checkbox when creating the package to prevent users from removing an application.



View which devices an applications is installed on

  • In the list of installed applications, select the application.

    A list of all devices which the application is installed on appears under the list of applications.

  • In the list of installed applications, double-click the application.

    The workbench of the application appears.

Remove applications

To remove applications on a mobile device, create a package and deployment with settings to remove the applications. A single application can also be removed by one of the following procedures:

  • Remove a single application from one or more devices.

  • Remove a single application from one device.

Note

The user must approve both installation and removal of applications on Android (other than Samsung) devices

Remove a single application from one or more devices

  • On the Device page of an applications workbench, select the devices, click Request removal, and then click Yes to remove the application.

  • On the Applications page on the workbench of a device, select the application, click Request removal, and then click Yes to remove the application.
