Configure the HP Universal Discovery connector

The Snow Integration Connector for HP UD is configured in Snow Integration Manager (SIM). For more information on SIM, refer to Snow Integration Manager.

Prerequisites

The HP UD has an output folder for the inventory data, and this folder usually resides within the UD application server itself. By default, the folder is named Processed. The folder contains files (.xsf) that are around 700-900 KB in size. These are the individual inventory files for each host that is scanned by HP UD.

For the Snow Integration Manager to process these inventory files, you need to share the Processed folder and then use this share when configuring the HP UD connector.

Procedure

The HP UD connector reads data from files that are saved in a folder.

Caution

Due to high CPU and memory usage, the recommendation is to use a server with higher performance than the recommended minimum SIM server requirements, or there is a risk that the HP UD aggregation will underperform.

  1. In the XSF scan file folder, either enter the location of the folder where the HP UD connector reads HP UD .xsf scan files, or select Browse to locate it.

    Note

SIM only reads .xsf files, so they are neither deleted nor moved from the XSF scan file folder. These are HP UD files that must remain on the server.

  2. Optional: Enter a Site name for this connector. This setting overrides the global site name.

  3. In the Initial aggregation length, select the number of months for the initial aggregation of inventory data.

  4. To reset an ongoing incremental aggregation, enter Clear Last Aggregation Date.
