Manage application categories
Learn how to manage your application categories in Snow Management and Configuration Center.
Create new categories
You can either create entirely new application categories or use applications as a basis. When you create a new category, you add it to the Categories list and to the Snow License Manager database.
On the Software recognition menu, click Application categories.
Do one of the following:
To create a new category, click New Category.
To create a new category based on applications, do the following:
In the Applications list, select one or several application rows.
Click New Category From Selected.
In the Category dialog box, enter a Name and a Description for the new category.
Click OK to save the new category and close the Category dialog box.
Assign applications to categories
When you add, or assign, an application to a category, the application appears in the Applications in the selected category list.
On the Software recognition menu, click Application categories.
In the Categories list, select the category you want to add applications to.
In the Applications list, select one or several applications that you want to add to the selected category.
Click Assign.
Unassign applications from categories
When you remove, or unassign, an application from a category, the application no longer appears in the Applications in the selected category list.
On the Software recognition menu, click Application categories.
In the Categories list, select the category you want to remove applications from.
In the Applications in the selected category list, select one or several applications that you want to remove from the selected category.
Click Unassign.
Edit categories
On the Software recognition menu, click Application categories.
In the Categories list, select the category you want to edit.
Click Edit Category.
In the Category dialog box, make the changes and then click OK to save.
Delete categories
When you delete an application category, any associated software is unassigned from it. The category is removed from the Categories list and from the Snow License Manager database.
On the Software recognition menu, click Application categories.
In the Categories list, select the category you want to delete.
Click Delete Category.
Click OK to confirm the deletion.
