Basic Settings

Settings for incomplete licenses, quarantine management, and metering, for example, are managed in the Basic Settings view.

Available actions are:

  • To change a setting, click the setting and use list, arrows, check box, or text box in the Settings Value column to change the value. A change is automatically saved.

  • To reset a single setting to the default value, click the setting in the list, and then click Reset current row to default value.

  • To reset all settings in the list to the default values, click Reset to default values.

Available settings are:

ACTION_LOG_DAYS

Number of days to keep action log items.

ACTIVATE_APPLICATION_WHITELISTING

Activate application whitelisting with a default set of rules.

AD_DISCOVERY_ACTIVITY_PERIOD

Number of days since last activity to consider when reading Active Directory discovery information.

ALLOW_INCOMPLETE_LICENSES

Allow incomplete licenses to be saved.

ANONYMOUS_USER_MANAGEMENT

Hide all usernames in the platform to meet integrity demands.

APP_SUMMARY_INDICATOR_INTERVALL

Number of days between updates for the application summary indicators (installations, users, devices).

AUTOGENERATE_DCC

If active the system auto-generates datacenters (DCC) based on hypervisor inventory information.

AUTOGENERATE_DCC_MIN_HOSTS

The minimum number of physical hosts that need to exist within a cluster/datacenter to enable the auto-generate DCC feature.

DCC_AUTODISCONNECT_DAYS

Days to wait before automatically removing members, that are missing inventory data, from auto-generated data centers.

DEFAULT_EDIT_CURRENCY

Default pre-selected currency to use in edit pages in SLM (the user can still select other available currencies).

DEVICE_EXCLUSION_LIST

Comma-separated list that defines which device names should not be imported when transferring inventory data (use % as a wildcard character).

DEVICE_QUARANTINE_ACTIVE

Activate quarantine management for devices.

DEVICE_QUARANTINE_DAYS

Number of inactive days before a device is placed in quarantine.

DEVICE_QUARANTINE_DELETE

Number of days that a device can remain in quarantine status, without reemitting any new inventory data, before it is automatically deleted and removed from the system. The number of days is based on the date when status was set to Quarantined.

DEVICE_QUARANTINE_DELETE_ACTIVE

Activate delete action for device quarantine.

DISABLEAUTOEDIT_DEFAULT_CMP

Auto edit, meaning that auto connect rules are applied, is by default enabled for new computers and mobile devices. Check the box to disable auto edit for new computers and mobile devices.

DISABLEAUTOEDIT_DEFAULT_DEV

Auto edit, meaning that auto connect rules are applied, is by default enabled for new devices. Check the box to disable auto edit for new devices.

DISABLEAUTOEDIT_DEFAULT_USR

Auto edit, meaning that auto connect rules are applied, is by default enabled for new users. Check the box to disable auto edit for new users.

EXTERNAL_NOTIFICATIONS_ACTIVE

Enable users to send notifications to e-mails of non-SLM users.

GRID_ALLBUTTON_LIMIT

Max number of rows in lists and reports for using the “display all” button.

INV_FILE_FILTER

File extension filter for data sources (only applies to Windows OS based files). Define the type of inventory files that will be transferred to SLM by adding or removing file endings in the comma-separated list.

LICENSE_EXT_ID_CHECK

Activate check for duplicate external id:s when registering license purchase records.

LOGIN_HISTORY_MONTHS

Number of months of historical login information to take into account when transferring inventoried users.

METERING_HISTORY_CLEANUP

Clear the metering history in Snow Inventory. All metering data older than the number of months specified by METERING_HISTORY_MONTHS is removed from the Snow Inventory database. Older statistics etc. are still available in SLM.

METERING_HISTORY_MONTHS

Number of months of historical software metering to take into account when transferring inventory data.

MOSTFREQUENTUSER_EXCLUSION

Comma-separated list of usernames to exclude when calculating most frequent computer or mobile device users.

% can be used as a wildcard character to match one or more characters. _ can be used as a wildcard to match one character.

The most frequent user is based on all logon data in the system.

To exclude usernames with an underscore _, use brackets around the underscore [_].

MOSTFREQUENTUSER_USELOGINPERIOD

When active, most frequent computer or mobile device users are calculated based on the specified LOGIN_HISTORY_MONTHS period.

When inactive, most frequent computer or mobile device users are calculated based on all logon data in the system.

MOSTRECENTUSER_EXCLUSION

Comma-separated list of usernames to exclude when calculating most recent computer or mobile device users.

NI_COMPARE_PERIOD

Compare period for total users, total devices and concurrency metrics.

ORACLEMGMTPCK_SHOWINST_ONLY

Display only installed or used Oracle Enterprise Management packs in the Oracle database view.

ORACLEOPTIONS_SHOWINST_ONLY

Display only installed or used Oracle Enterprise Options in the Oracle database view.

PASSWORD_EXPIRATION_DAYS

Number of days until password expiration. This setting can be overridden for a specific user, by enabling the Password never expires option.

QUARANTINE_ACTIVE

Activate quarantine management for computers and mobile devices.

QUARANTINE_DAYS

Number of inactive days before a computer or mobile device is placed in quarantine.

QUARANTINE_DELETE

Number of days that a computer or mobile device can remain in quarantine status, without reemitting any new inventory data, before it is automatically deleted and removed from the system. The number of days is based on the date when status was set to Quarantined.

QUARANTINE_DELETE_ACTION

What action to take (delete, set to inactive) when handling computer and mobile device Quarantine delete.

QUARANTINE_DELETE_ACTIVE

Activate delete action for computer and mobile device quarantine.

SAP_ENABLED

Required for SAP module to be active.

SOFTWARE_STORE_OPTION_ACTIVE

Activates Software Store option for applications.

SRS_MANUFACTURER_FILTER

Comma-separated list of manufacturers to display in the SLM Web UI (use % as a wildcard character).

TS_VIEWS_ACTIVE

Activate terminal services, device lists and details in the SLM Web UI.

USE_AUTO_DOWNGRADE

Activate automatic downgrade rights as the default for applications.

USE_VENDOR_REPOSITORY

Activate the manufacturer/vendor repository.

USER_LOCKOUT_TIME

Number of minutes to block a user after three failed login attempts.

USER_QUARANTINE_ACTIVE

Activate Quarantine management for inventoried user accounts.

USER_QUARANTINE_DAYS

Number of inactive days before a user is placed in Quarantine.

USER_QUARANTINE_DELETE

Number of days that a user can remain in Quarantine status, without reemitting any new inventory data, before it is automatically deleted and removed from the system. The number of days is based on the date when the user of the device was set to Quarantined.

USER_QUARANTINE_DELETE_ACTIVE

Activate delete for user Quarantine.

WEB_PORTS

Comma-separated list to override default web ports used for Web Metering.
