Icons, configurations, and data

Clues in the graphical user interface help to differentiate among the different types of reports and file types, as well as providing easy access to report features such as delete, edit, and schedule.

When working with reports, distinguishing between a report configuration and report data is key. A report configuration controls what data should be shown in a report, such as what columns and how the report should be filtered. Report data is the information that populates those columns when you run Show report. Once you've set up a report configuration, you will probably keep it, whereas the data that populates it will change as your network environment evolves and licenses are added to the system. The word report is used interchangeably to describe both a report configuration and its data.
