Manage tagging

Here are the ways you can manage tagging in Risk Monitor.

Show data for tagged items on dashboard

  • On the Filters pane, go to the Tag Name section and select the checkboxes for the tags you are interested in.

    The dashboard will filter to show results for the items tagged with the selected tags.

View tags

To view a list of all tags and see all items tagged with a specific tag:

  1. On the menu bar, select the Configuration cogwheel icon, and then select Tagging from the menu on the left side of the screen.

    A list of created tags, if any, appears.

  2. Select the plus icon to the left of a tag in the list to see the tagged items.

    The items are shown sorted by item type, that is, users, devices, applications, and vulnerabilities.

Create tag

You can create a new tag on the Tagging page in the Configurations section.

You can also create a tag directly from a dashboard after having pinpointed the item you want to tag with the new tag, see Add tag to item.

To create a tag from the Configurations section:

  1. On the menu bar, select the Configuration cogwheel icon, select Tagging from the menu on the left side of the screen, and then select New.

    The Create New Tag dialog box appears.

  2. In the Name box, enter a descriptive name for the tag.

    For example: "Critical server vulnerabilities".

  3. In the Description box, enter a description of the purpose of the tag.

    For example: "These vulnerabilities need to be monitored carefully since they reside on critical servers".

  4. Select Save.

    A message confirming that the tag has been created will appear.

    Note

    It will take up to 24 hours for the tag to be visible in the Tag Name section on the Filters pane.

Add tag to item

You can add a tag to an item either via the Tagging page in the Configurations section or directly from a dashboard.

When tagging items via the Tagging page, you need to know the item names. When tagging items via a dashboard, you can find the items you want to tag by using filters, for example.

  • To add a tag to an item, do one of the following:

    • On the Tagging page:

      1. Go to the list of tags and display the details of the tag you want to use, see View tags.

      2. Select New above the table with items of the same type as the item you want to tag.

        A dialog box appears.

      3. Select the item from the list and then select Save.

    • On any dashboard:

      1. Locate a table or chart containing the item you want to tag.

        You can use filters to filter out the item or group of items to tag.

      2. Right-click the item row and select Manage Tags.

        The Manage Tags dialog box appears.

      3. Use an existing tag by selecting it from the drop-down list, or create a new one by selecting New and entering a name and a description for the new tag.

      4. Select the item you want to tag from the list of options, and then select Save.

Remove tag from item

  1. Go to the list of tags and display the details of the tag you want to remove, see View tags.

  2. Select Remove in the item row.

    A message confirming the removal of the tag will appear.

Remove tag from system

To remove a tag from all tagged items and delete it from the system:

  1. Go to the list of tags, see View tags.

  2. Select Remove in a row to remove the tag in that row.

    A message confirming the removal of the tag will appear.
