Resource Capacity and Performance
You can use Commander to effectively monitor the capacity of your virtual infrastructure and reclaim any wasted resources. You can also use it to monitor and address the performance of your resources.
Capacity and waste reclamation
Commander predicts and identifies constraining resources so that you can address potential bottlenecks. You can compare your consumption on public and private clouds, and assess the benefit of moving resources, such as VMs, from one cloud to another.
The following topics provide information on how to identify and address capacity and waste reclamation:
To view a system-level summary of your public and private cloud infrastructure's capacity, select Views > Solutions > Capacity. This graph-based, summary page provides you with detailed resource capacity information and quick access to relevant reports.
Resource performance optimization
Commander provides you with detailed information to help optimize VM, host, and cluster performance and resource usage. It also provides rightsizing recommendations that are accompanied with cost implications, so that users can make informed decisions about the resources they consume. You can also configure automated rightsizing.
The following topics provide information on how to optimize resource performance:
- Monitor Performance of VMs, Hosts, Clusters
- Rightsize VMs and Instances
- Manually Reconfigure VM Resources
To view summary graphs and reports, select Views > Solutions > Performance. This graph-based, summary page provides you with quick information on performance and resource optimization and provides quick access to relevant reports.
